Low Cost Internet Service - Affordable Connectivity Program

Many internet service providers are participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program to offer low-cost internet service and discounted devices to eligible families.

Low-cost Internet:
Eligible households can receive a benefit of up to $30 per month applied to the cost of their internet service - a minimum of 100 Mbps download speed, which is fast enough for a typical family of 4 to video conference, stream movies or TV, and more.

Discounted Devices:
Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from certain participating providers, with a small copay. To get a discounted device, contact a participating provider.

Rent/Mortgage and Utilities Payments

United Way of San Diego Worker Assistance Initiative: Payments will be made directly to landlords, mortgage companies, and utility service providers. Utility payments will only cover the following: gas, electric, water, trash, telephone, and internet. Strongly recommended to apply online, but mail applications will also be accepted. FAQ: uwsd.org/faqs-worker-assistance-initiative/

Filing an Unemployment Insurance Claim

Information you need to file a claim: You’ll need to provide your personal information & your: 
  • Last employer information including company name, supervisor’s name, address (mailing and physical location) and phone number 
  • Last date worked and the reason you are no longer working 
  • Gross earnings in the last week you worked, beginning with Sunday and ending with your last day of work 
  • Information on all employers you worked for during the past 18 months, including name, address (mailing and physical location), the dates of employment, gross wages earned, hours worked per week, hourly rate of pay, and the reason you are no longer working. 
  • Notice to Federal Employees About Unemployment Insurance, Standard Form 8 (former federal employees only) 
  • DD 214 Member 4 copy (ex-military only) 
  • Citizenship status, and, if you are not a U.S. citizen, information from your employment authorization document
